Chengdu MixC (万象城, Wànxiàng Chéng), operated by China Resources Land, opened its first phase in 2012 and was expanded in 2020 into a 320,000-square-foot mega-mall in the Chenghua District east of downtown. It is the kind of place you can lose an entire afternoon in: a soaring glass atrium, five retail levels, a basement supermarket and electronics floor, an Olympic-size ice rink, a nine-screen cinema, and a rooftop garden with running track. Unlike the luxury-focused IFS, MixC aims at the broad middle-class family shopper and carries a wide mix of international mid-range brands, Chinese youth fashion, sports chains and homeware.
The design is deliberately transparent: a glass roof floods the central atrium with daylight, wide escalators connect every floor, and outdoor terraces on the upper levels face the Jinjiang River. At weekends the mall is a sea of strollers; on weekday afternoons it is quiet enough to browse comfortably. MixC is also one of the few Chengdu malls with a dedicated imported supermarket (Ole), where foreign expats stock up on cheese, wine, Western breakfast cereals and imported snacks.
What to shop and do
- Fashion: Uniqlo, Zara, H&M, Nike, Adidas, Puma, New Balance, plus Chinese brands like UR, Peacebird and Mark Fairwhale.
- Sports and outdoors: a large Decathlon, The North Face, Columbia and a climbing wall in the basement.
- Electronics: a Suning floor with phones, laptops, drones and camera gear; Apple authorized reseller.
- Family: the ice rink (冰场 bīngchǎng), children's playground on L3, cinema on L5, and a Lego store.
- Food: over 50 restaurants including Haidilao hot pot, Cantonese dim sum, Japanese conveyor-belt sushi and a food hall on B1 with Sichuan street snacks.
MixC runs frequent seasonal events: a Christmas market in December, a cherry blossom installation in March and an outdoor summer cinema on the rooftop in July. Parking is cheap and ample; the mall is connected directly to the Metro.

Foreign visitor tips
MixC is the safest choice for foreign families in Chengdu: clean toilets, baby rooms, English-speaking concierge and a foreign-food supermarket under one roof. The Ole supermarket has a cheese and wine section where you can stock up before a flight. If you want to try an ice-skating rink with Chinese pop music over the speakers, this is the one. Taxis are hard to get at 21:30 closing time; walk to the Metro station 5 minutes away instead.
If you are visiting with children, MixC is one of the few malls in Chengdu with a dedicated indoor playground, a Lego certified store, and an ice rink that hosts public skating sessions every afternoon. The Ole supermarket in the basement is also the best place in town to stock up on imported cheese, wine and breakfast cereals before a long flight. On rainy summer days, MixC becomes a de facto living room for local families, so arrive before 11:00 to secure a table at any of the popular restaurants on the fifth floor.
